About this experiment

This non-commercial proof of concept explores what can be derived from publicly available traffic patterns and public information. Festival-specific Bengaluru history and documented local event hotspots are used when evidence exists; weak-evidence events deliberately stay close to the normal pattern rather than inventing precision. Source owners retain rights in their original material. Estimates may be incomplete or wrong.

How to read it

Traffic levelThe 5-step scale tells you how busy the roads are expected to be for that time window. It is not the percentage change.
Lighter or heavier than usualThe separate percentage compares that date with a normal same weekday and time. Festival-specific history can materially change the normal weekday pattern.
WhyThe reason is always shown—historical festival behaviour, a documented local hotspot, holiday/school closure, long-weekend effect, rain or an area rush-hour pattern.

Historical backbone: public TomTom Traffic Index Bengaluru patterns. Event layer: Bengaluru-specific historical reporting and Bengaluru Traffic Police observations for major festivals/long weekends. Area context: Bengaluru mobility plans and published corridor/junction studies. Weather and other short-term signals become clearer closer to the date.
